Police/Fire Log for Rancho Cordova Aug. 17-21

The following was provided by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department

• Le Ann and Don Juan drives, arrest. Robert Cardenas, 18, was arrested at 2:10 a.m. Aug. 17 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

• Mills Station and Mather Field roads, arrest. Raymond F. Sultani, 25, was arrested at 2:19 a.m. Aug. 17 on suspicion of driving with a suspended or revoked license, violation of written promise to appear and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Zinfandel Drive and Folsom Boulevard, arrest. William Geraldsolo Ortiz, 20, was arrested at 4 a.m. Aug. 17 on suspicion of being under the influence.

• 8500 block of Bellamy Way, arrest. Torrie Louise Evans, 31, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Aug. 18 on suspicion of embezzlement.

• Woodberry Way and Mills Park Drive, arrest. Cheri C. Noriega, 39, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Aug. 18 on suspicion of possession of controlled substances, trespassing, possession of narcotics and specified non-narcotics and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

• 3000 block of Power Inn Road, arrest. Floyd Anthony Williams, 18, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Aug. 19 on suspicion of burglary.

• Arrest. Michael A. Williams, 26, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. Aug. 20 on suspicion of the sale or transport of controlled substances, conspiracy, driving without a license and endangering the life or health of a child.

• Arrest. Derrick Brooks, 23, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Aug. 20 on suspicion of the sale or transport of controlled substances, conspiracy and endangering the life or health of a child.

• 2400 block of McCraine Circle, arrest. Jermaine Lamont Edwards, 19, was arrested at 3:02 p.m. Aug. 21 on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy.

• Routier Road and Ellenwood Avenue, arrest. Manuel Bedrak, 29, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Aug. 21 on suspicion of receiving a known stolen motor vehicle, trailer or vessel.

Solar Powered Home Building Uncertain as Another Builder Heads Toward Bankruptcy

Last April, Woodside Homes struck a huge deal with SMUD that included building at least 1,500 solar powered homes in Rancho Cordova by 2012. This week residents learned that the Utah based builder is steadily heading toward Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Police Activities League- Creating a Safe Hang Out for Kids

Just when we thought the Rancho Cordova Police Department was all about stopping drunk drivers and making sure people weren’t using a cell phone while driving, they show us a softer side. The Rancho Cordova Police Activities League (PAL) will be hosting a series of monthly Saturday Night Out programs beginning September 13th.

Local Teacher Receives Teacher of the Month Award

This 59 year old Physical Education teacher at Rosemont High School is tackling the obesity epidemic one class at a time. “I enjoy firing up the kids and working with them”, she says. And work with them she does. In fact she leads aerobics lessons three times a day and on Wednesdays, her classes run about a mile and a half. In order to receive their points, the students have to stay in front of her.

Deputy’s Stolen Gun Found

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has found the handgun that was stolen from one of their deputy’s last month in Rancho Cordova. On August 20th, deputies from the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to a call about a man violating a domestic violence restraining order.

Missing Girl Found

Aryel Bonsall is described as: 5′4″ and weighing about 140-150 lbs. She has light brown hair that is just longer than shoulder length. Aryel has is white and has blue eyes.
She was last seen in the area of Watt Ave and Auburn Blvd and is know to have friends and family in the area of Fulton Ave/Marconi/Edision/Lerwick Roads.

Police Department Receives New Grant

The multiple drunk driving checkpoints around the area are just the beginning of the crack down on drunk driving. While you might have seen these around town, especially later at night, chances are they might become a common occurrence in the Rancho Cordova area. The Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce invites you to join them in welcoming the California Northstate College of Pharmacy. To celebrate the opening of the college, a ribbon cutting will be held on August 28th from noon until 1p.m. at 10811 International Drive.
