Solar Powered Home Building Uncertain as Another Builder Heads Toward Bankruptcy

Last April, Woodside Homes struck a huge deal with SMUD that included building at least 1,500 solar powered homes in Rancho Cordova by 2012. This week residents learned that the Utah based builder is steadily heading toward Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Police Activities League- Creating a Safe Hang Out for Kids

Just when we thought the Rancho Cordova Police Department was all about stopping drunk drivers and making sure people weren’t using a cell phone while driving, they show us a softer side. The Rancho Cordova Police Activities League (PAL) will be hosting a series of monthly Saturday Night Out programs beginning September 13th.

Local Teacher Receives Teacher of the Month Award

This 59 year old Physical Education teacher at Rosemont High School is tackling the obesity epidemic one class at a time. “I enjoy firing up the kids and working with them”, she says. And work with them she does. In fact she leads aerobics lessons three times a day and on Wednesdays, her classes run about a mile and a half. In order to receive their points, the students have to stay in front of her.

Deputy’s Stolen Gun Found

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has found the handgun that was stolen from one of their deputy’s last month in Rancho Cordova. On August 20th, deputies from the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to a call about a man violating a domestic violence restraining order.
