City to present options for residents to avoid foreclosure on their homes

In response to record high numbers of home foreclosures on residents in the City of Rancho Cordova, the city council is providing a homeowner mortgage clinic called “Avoiding Home Foreclosure”. The clinic is aimed at homeowners facing foreclosure or citizens concerned that they soon may face this issue.

The City will host an informative Homeowner Mortgage Clinic to help at-risk homeowners understand their options. There will be presentations by NeighborWorks, the Fair Housing Commission, and by members of the lending community. The clinic will help attendees know the steps they can take to address their loan troubles and improve their odds of saving their home from foreclosure.

Neighborworks, a nationally-respected not-for-profit organization which promotes responsible home ownership, will discuss how they can assist residents with counseling and developing a written action plan for managing household finances in order to get back on track. They provide a national housing hotline and can connect a family in need with educated and compassionate counselors. The housing hotline can be reached by dialing 1-888-995-HOPE. Counselors are available to answer any housing related questions. The Fair Housing Commission of Sacramento County will also provide homeowners with tips for avoiding foreclosure scams. If you are behind in your mortgage payments or afraid you may lose your home due to an adjustable rate mortgage, this clinic may help save your home.

The homeowner mortgage clinic will take place on Wednesday, December 12th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Rancho Cordova City Hall in the City Council Chambers. Attendees can receive counseling and the counselors will connect them with local housing agencies, employment networks, or other community resources. Even if you feel like you’re already too far behind on your mortgage payments, attending this clinic could be the difference between keeping your home and being forced out of it.

This is great information. Thank you for posting it. I think that this clinic ought to be highly relevant for Cordovans.
