Residents speak out about airport noise

Meetings to address Mather’s cargo jet traffic and its future.

Residents in Folsom, El Dorado Hills and other communities surrounding Mather Airport complain that cargo jets already jar them out of their sleep and rattle them again in the afternoon and evening.

Alarmed by the potential for an increase in cargo flights, some are preparing critical comments on environmental impacts associated with Mather’s master plan, which envisions the airport growing into a major cargo hub.  Read more

    You have got to be kidding. When Mather started being used as a commercial airport, there were no homes in the flight path. Developers then built homes there and now the people are complaining about the noise? Did they think airplanes would be silent? They should have thought twice before building or buying one of these homes. I say tough. The airport was there first. You guys are sorta outta luck. Stop whinning.

    This seems to be one of those issues where there are strong passions on both sides. This is definitely an issue which will require cooperation and compromise across political boundaries to solve. The cities of Folsom and Rancho Cordova and counties of Sacramento and El Dorado will need to work together to build consensus towards a win-win resolution.
