Lightning storm knocks out power

A lightning storm Monday night left about 7,000 Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers without electricity, some for several hours.
By 9:30 p.m., power was restored to a majority of residents and businesses, SMUD spokeswoman Dace Udris said.
The outages were caused when lightning struck power lines or transformers, Udris said.

Volcano Corp. raises $123 million in stock offering

Rancho Cordova based Volcano Corp. on Tuesday raised about $123 million dollars for continued research into their equipment for diagnosing cardiovascular disease. The local company priced the stock at $16.25 per share and offered 8.05 million share for sale.
