A lightning storm Monday night left about 7,000 Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers without electricity, some for several hours. By 9:30 p.m., power was restored to a majority of residents and businesses, SMUD spokeswoman Dace Udris said. The outages were caused when lightning struck power lines or transformers, Udris said.
